We are excited to announce that The Freedom Center has officially opened its second location on South Main Street on October 7th. To celebrate this achievement, we held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to the public on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Our current location at 106 East Gambier Street will continue offering intensive medication and medical services there. In fact, we will be launching a second capital campaign project to build a certified recovery home with treatment.
For over 47 years, The Freedom Center is dedicated to serving the evolving needs of the community. Dr. Afet Kilinc, the Executive Director of The Freedom Center, emphasizes the wide array of comprehensive services available to residents in Knox County:
“We provide prevention services and mental health services. We specialize in children play therapies and EDMR trauma therapy. We specialize in treating women and really providing women gender-specific treatments, and recently added case management and homeless outreach services.”
Dr. Afet Kilinc, Executive Director of The Freedom Center
Our locations have a psychiatrist, behavioral health counselor, adolescent counselor, prevention educators, case managers, a physician who prescribes addiction medications, a criminal justice service coordinator, a certified peer recovery specialist, SUD community nurses, and more. Our new site will have a children & adolescent suite, a women’s suite, a prevention suite, a mental health suite, and a large open space to host more wellness events.
