Criminal Justice Services

The Criminal Justice Services program focuses on early identification of addiction, treatment engagement and retention.

  • Jail Services – Municipal and Common Pleas court referrals are provided with substance use disorder assessment in Knox County Jail. Inmates with qualifying substance use disorder diagnoses receive groups, individual counseling and case management as needed for re-entry. The jail program is operated in collaboration with the Knox County Sherriff’s Office, Mount Vernon Municipal Court and Knox County Common Pleas Court.

  • Probation Services – Substance Use Disorder services including assessment, case management and group education are provided on-site at Mount Vernon Municipal Court and Knox County Common Pleas Court to help increase client access to treatment and reduce engagement barriers.

  • Specialized Docket Programs – The Freedom Center partners with Knox County Common Pleas Court, and Mount Vernon Municipal Court to support the drug court programs. Drug courts are specialized dockets that handle cases involving substance-abusing offenders through supervision, drug and alcohol testing, treatment services and immediate sanctions and incentives.
